Helsingin Sanomat

Focus area: Data Journalism and Interactives

Helsingin Sanomat is the largest daily newspaper in the Nordics. We're known for quality journalism, and our storytelling on the web is cutting edge.

Our Student Fellow will work on HS’s data desk, which applies data journalism in various ways. The desk uses data gathering, analysis, and visualisation.

Our former Student Fellows have participated in data-driven stories, often in collaboration with other departments. We are looking for a Fellow with an interest in data journalism.

Our Data desk has many tasks, so we're able to offer suitable work for many types of skills.

Yle Kioski

Area: Product and Design

Yle Kioski is a youth media brand of Yle, Finnish public broadcaster, targeting young people aged 15–29 on Youtube, Instagram, Tiktok, and other social media platforms. Our focus is on factual content: news, documentaries & current affairs, but we also provide relatable, funny, and entertaining breaks from the everyday.

Yle Kioski is dedicated to diversity both as a workplace and in the content we produce.

Our Student Fellow will mostly work with our news team, but with the wide variety of products we produce, there may be other tasks as well. We are looking for a Fellow with knowledge of journalism and social media storytelling, and somebody that has a can-do, hands-on attitude. Knowledge of audience metrics, design tools, and video storytelling is a plus, but not necessary. The team works in Finnish, but we happily welcome applications from people who are not fluent in Finnish as well.
